Wild Basin Adventure-2 nights
July 9th-July 11th 2025
Embark on a 2-night backpacking adventure through the stunning Wild Basin area of RMNP. Hike past secluded alpine lakes, fed by ancient glaciers, where the crystal-clear waters reflect towering peaks and surrounding forests. Wander through wildflower-filled meadows, cross babbling streams, and experience breathtaking views of rugged mountain landscapes. Spend peaceful nights under the stars, camping beside serene lakes, and connect with nature in one of the park’s most remote and awe-inspiring regions.
Day 1 4.2 miles 1400ft gain
From the trailhead, we begin in dense forests and along streams. As we gain elevation, we’ll get occasional views of surrounding peaks. The trail gradually ascends, crossing meadows of wildflowers and continues through thick forest before finally reaching camp, a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks. You’ll have the option to swim in the alpine lake or just relax by the shore taking in it’s beauty.
Day 2 2 miles 600ft gain
Trail begins with a steady climb, with occasional views opening up between trees. As we approach camp, the trail becomes more rugged and offers more dramatic views of the surrounding peaks. The peaceful clear lake is nestled beneath steep cliffs and surrounded by forests.
Day 3 6 miles Descending
Our final day, we retrace our steps to the trailhead. The hike back will be easier than the ascent, giving you time to reflect on the trip while enjoying the last views of this wilderness.
